Longevity claimant

Zhu Zhengshi [Chinese: 朱郑氏] (21 September 1900? – 30 December 2022) was a Chinese longevity claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Zhu Zhengshi claimed to have been born in Qing dynasty (China) on 21 September 1900. She was Hakka. She was one of 6 living generations in her family (as of 2018).

Since a fall in 2015, Zhu walked with a walker. In October 2018, she was reported to be the oldest living person in Chengdu. In September 2021, she celebrated her claimed 121st birthday.

In October 2021, Zhu participated to a "thousand years banquet" [Chinese: 千岁宴] with other elderly people, including her oldest daughter (aged 87 in 2021). According to her great-granddaughter Guo Xiujuan [Chinese: 郭秀娟], her good behavior and appetite are the secrets of her longevity.

Zhu Zhengshi died in Yunhua Community, situated in Shengli Town, Shuangliu District, Chengdu, Sichuan, China on 30 December 2022, at the claimed age of 122 years, 100 days. Her son, aged over 80, had died a few days before her death.

Potential Longevity Records[]

If Zhu's age is correct, she would have been the oldest living person in the world at the time of her death (being older than Lucile Randon of France), and the second-oldest person ever (after Jeanne Calment of France). Zhu Zhengshi would also have been the last surviving person born in the year 1900 and the 19th century, but the verified holder of that title is Nabi Tajima of Japan.
