Maria Isabel Brito Guarin [Spanish: María Isabel Brito Guarín] (15 May 1905 – 18 June 2016) was a Colombian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Isabel Brito Guarin was born in Filandia, Quindio, Colombia on 15 May 1905. Her parents were Florentino and Dolores. She never married nor had children, but helped to educate her numerous nephews and nieces. After both of her parents died in 1947 and 1948, she moved to Pereira, Risaralda, where she would live for the rest of her life. She was well known in her neighborhood, as she helped to found the local parish and was heavily involved in charity and community activities. She was a devout Catholic and was particularly devout to the Virgin of Carmel.

Brito Guarin died in Dosquebradas, Risaralda, Colombia at 7:34 PM on 18 June 2016 at the age of 111 years, 34 days. At the time of her death, she lived with her then-93 year old nephew, Hector Fabio Brito Aristizabal. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known living person in Colombia, behind Ana Sara Marquez de Ramirez.
