Giichi Okumura [Japanese: 奥村儀一] (18 October 1896 – 13 October 2007) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG). He is the first man ever from Hokkaido Prefecture to reach Supercentenarian status
Biography[]
Giichi Okumura was born in Awaji, Hyogo, Japan on 18 October 1896. He moved to Hokkaido Prefecture with his father when he was 10 years old. He had 1 child, 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
On 12 October 2007, following the death of 111-year-old Kane Kagaya, Okumura became the oldest living person in Hokkaido Prefecture, the title he held for only one day.
Okumura died in Biratori, Hokkaido, Japan on 13 October 2007 at the age of 110 years, 360 days. He was the oldest man ever from Hokkaido Prefecture until his age was surpassed by Kiyoshi Igarashi
