Ethel May Caterham (born 21 August 1909) is a British supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).


Ethel Caterham was born in Wiltshire, England, UK on 21 August 1909. From the ages of 18 to 21, worked as an au pair for a miltary family in India.

She returned to England, where she met and married Norman Caterham, who went on to become a lieutenant colonel in the Royal Army Pay Corps.

She drove until she was 97 years old and was a regular bridge player in her centenarian years.

She became the oldest known living person in Surrey following the death of 109 year-old Kay Hurley on 17 January 2019.

Ethel Caterham currently lives with her daughter Ann Gaisford in Bisley, Surrey, England, UK.
