Ethel Jane Boltz (née Shimer; formerly Stalnaker; 2 December 1903 – 1 April 2016) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Ethel Boltz was born as Ethel Shimer on a farm in Annamoriah, Calhoun County, West Virginia, United States on 2 December 1903. Her parents were Sherman and Mary Shimer. She had eight siblings. She worked as a farmer.

She married Hagen Stalnaker, but later they divorced. The couple had one son: Harland Stalnaker (1921–1979).

She married Emmanuel Boltz in Calhoun, West Virginia, USA on 28 July 1928. The couple had three children: James Boltz (1930–2016) and Donald Boltz Sr. (1935–2019). Emmanuel died in 1959.

According to Boltz’s family, the secret to her longevity was that everything she ate was home-produced ecologically on her farm.

Her younger brother James Harold Shimer died in June 2015 at the age of 100 and her sister Peggy Bowman died in March 2017 at the age of 97.

Ethel Boltz died in Beverly, West Virginia, United States on 1 April 2016 at the age of 112 years, 121 days.
