Enma Targelia Espinoza Saldarriaga (2 February 1910 – 6 February 2020) was an Ecuadorian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Espinoza Saldarriaga was born in Arenillas, Arenillas Canton, El Oro Province, Ecuador, on 2 February 1910. She has never attended school and never learned to read or write. She had 10 children.

At the age of 106, in October 2016, she was still very lucid and was able to remember the hard times she lived during the Ecuadorian–Peruvian War of 1941. During her life she lived in the cantons of Arenillas, Huaquillas and Las Lajas, bordering areas with Peru, and was able to remember many difficult events that the province of El Oro faced. She was also able to remember the floods of 1970: “It was terrible, at that time of the flood many people died. I was saved because I went to the mountains”.

Espinoza Saldarriaga died in the San Vicente neighborhood of the Arenillas, El Oro, Ecuador, on 6 February 2020, at the age of 110 years, 4 days.
