She moved to Texas in the beginning of the 20th century and married John Maxey in Grayson, Texas on 6 August 1908. The couple had two children, Margaret and Benton. Following the death of their son Benton the family moved to Atoka, Oklahoma, where Mrs. Maxey lived for the rest of her life. Her distant cousin, Anna Mae Pendley (1899-2009) lived to be 110.
