Laura "Elsie" Jane Usherwood (née Taylor; formerly Adair; 5 May 1908 – 18 March 2020) was an American supercentenarian who is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Usherwood was born in Ralls County, Missouri, USA, on 5 May 1908. Her parents were David J. Taylor and Clara P. (Long) Taylor. She had 1 sister and 6 brothers, all of whom she outlived. She was first married to William “Bob” R. Adair on 25 September 1927, but he died on 27 February 1966. On 17 July 1971, she married James H. Usherwood. He died on 25 April 1990. She had one son, Jesse Adair. She worked in St. Elizabeth Hospital as a nurse's assistant. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Usherwood died in Hannibal, Missouri, USA, on 18 March 2020, at the age of 111 years, 317 days. At the time of death, she had 1 granddaughter, Penny Strube, 2 great-grandchildren, Carrianne Harrison and Dr. Levi Strube, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
