Elisabet Ekenaes [Norwegian: Ekenæs] (born 26 December 1904) is a Norwegian supercentenarian who has officially been verified. She is the oldest living person in Norway and has been since 16 August 2012 after the death of Ragndit Slotfeldt-Ellingsen. She has been the oldest living person in the whole of the Nordic region since the death of Selma Tuominen on 12 April 2015.

Biography

Elisabet Julie Ekenaes was born in Oymark, the current Marker municipality, but her father died when she was young. She, and her mother, Mathilde Amundsen (born 1870) moved to mother's sister on the farm Hønstvet in Skiptvet. Elisabet and her sister Karoline (born 1903) got very good grades in school, especially in mathematics and Norwegian language. She was born with a club foot. She moved to Oslo. Elisabet stayed for a long time in Valerenga neighbourhood. Her niece, Jorunn Elisabeth Kleppe, has lived with her for over 10 years. Also, Elisabet's mother lived with her in 1950s. She worked as a school teacher for a Mollergata's church. She was devout, never smoked, and never drank alcohol.

On Dec. 26, 2016, Elisabet Ekenaes celebrated her 112th birthday as the second person in the modern history of Norway.[1]
