Edith Morey (née Thibault; 28 July 1900 – 8 January 2012) was a Canadian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At time of her death, she was the oldest known person born in Canada.

Biography[]

Edith Morey was born in Kaladar, Ontario, Canada on 28 July 1900. Her parents were William Joseph Thibault and Izora (née McSherry) Thibault. She had four brothers and five sisters.

She married Edwin Wesley Morey in Flinton, Ontario, Canada on 11 December 1918. The couple had three children: Mina (deceased), Viola Wilson (1921–1982) and Maedean Harpell (1929–2013).

Edwin and Edith moved to 80 Main St. in downtown Kingston the early 1950s and lived there for many years. She got widowed in 1969.

Edith Morey died in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on 8 January 2012 at the age of 111 years, 164 days. She was survived by one daughter Maedean Harpell; 22 grandchildren (including Theresa McCarthy and Evelyn Mavety), 69 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-great-grandchildren.
