Dirk Franciscus Ferdinand van der Noen (7 May 1910 – 20 December 2016) was a Dutch centenarian who was the oldest known living man in the Netherlands at the time of his death.
Dirk F. F. van der Noen was born on 7 May 1910 in Amsterdam, North Holland, The Netherlands to parents Nicolaas and Jansje (née Prasing) van der Noen. He was the youngest of 10 children born to his parents. Throughout his adult life, he worked as a house painter, but was an artist and draftsman in his spare time. He later married Catharina Christina Hansen and had a son, Hendrik Petrus van der Noen, with her.
Piano and singing lessons were other hobbies of Dirk’s, but as he grew older, he suffered from Macular Degeneration, which culminated in him losing his vision. At the age of 93, in 2003, he moved into a nursing home in Duivendrecht, where he lived for the rest of his life.
In late 2010 or early 2011, Dirk’s son Hendrik passed away. In 2012, when he was 102, Dirk’s first great-grandchild was born. On his 104th birthday, the mayor of his municipality presented him with a congratulatory bouquet. Dirk became the oldest living man in The Netherlands following the death of 106-year-old Jacob Berg on 5 July 2016.
Dirk F. F. van der Noen passed away on 20 December 2016 in Duivendrecht, Ouder-Amstel, North Holland, The Netherlands, at the age of 106 years, 227 days. His successor as the oldest living man in The Netherlands was Jan Willem van de Kamp, who was ten days younger.
