Biography

Christine Hoscheid was born on 16 February 1907 in Germany as the first of four children born to her parents. Her father was a driver and her mother a housekeeper. In the Nazi era, she worked in a launderette and had several conflicts with the owner, which were always settled in court. She never married nor had children.

During an attack on the city, Christine’s father was killed. Christine’s brother died during World War 2. She liked to help look after her nieces and nephews, always thinking they were like her own children that she never had. Christine went to live with one of her nieces, Margret, in 2008. Since 2016, she has been wheelchair-bound, and doesn't like it very much. She still exercises her arms regularly.

On her 110th birthday, Christine celebrated said birthday with around 30 guests. A song was sung to her, and Mayor Paul Larue visited her and congratulated her.

Christine Hoscheid died in Duren, North-Rhine Westphalia, on 2018 at the age of 111 years.
