Centenarian

Astrid Qvist (born 6 March 1912) is a Finnish centenarian who has been the oldest living person in Finland since the death of Helvi Harma on 24 December 2020.

Biography

Astrid Qvist was born in Ostrobothnia, Finland on 6 March 1912. Longevity was present in her family - two of her sisters, Elvida and Ester, lived to be 104 and 102 years old, respectively. She had two children: Harry Qvist (1931–1975) and Viva Melander (1933–). When asked what her secret to longevity is, she claims she never did anything in particular, but cited a good diet and hard work as possible explanations for her long life.

Astrid Qvist currently lives in Narpes, Ostrobothnia, Finland.
