Biography

Antonia Pereira Braga was the oldest resident of Quilombo Mesquita, was 112 years old and was full of joy. Dona Antonia was the deepest mark of the quilombo and lived alone in her house far from the city. To be inside Dona Antonia's house was to relive the past. Every detail told a little of the story. The wood-burning stove, the clay pots, the soot-blackened walls that made the most delicious coffee make any doubt about the authenticity of the quilombo.

That house was home to a story that was enriched by immense sympathy and the laughter of Dona Antonia and her niece Vicentina Pereira Braga, 63 who leaves her home to take care of her aunt.
