Scott formerly held the records for being both the longest-lived person born on the island of Ireland and the longest-lived person to die in Scotland. Both of these records have subsequently been surpassed, although Scott remains the longest-lived person ever born in Northern Ireland.
Biography[]
Annie Scott was born as Annie Isabella Sloan in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, UK on 15 March 1883. She married Thomas D. Scott and was widowed in 1937. Longevity Records[]
It is not known at what point Scott became either the oldest living person born in Ireland or oldest living person residing in Scotland, but it was likely before her 110th birthday. She became the oldest living person in the United Kingdom following the death of 112 year-old Rebecca Hewison on 22 September 1994. After Scott's death on 21 April 1996, Rachel Wieselberg became the UK's oldest living person.
All-Time Records[]
Scott became the longest-lived person in the history of Scotland on 11 November 1994, after surpassing the previous record of 111 years, 240 days set by Kate Begbie. Scott held this record until 1 July 2005, when her age was surpassed by Lucy d'Abreu.
Scott became the longest-lived person ever born on the island of Ireland on 6 February 1995, after surpassing the previous record of 111 years, 327 days set by Katherine Plunket. Scott held this record until 26 March 2015, when her age was surpassed by Kathleen Snavely. However, Snavely was born in what is now the Republic of Ireland, so Scott remains as the longest-lived person ever born in Northern Ireland.
