At the time of her death, she was the United Kingdom's oldest living person and the world's second-oldest living person, after American Sarah Knauss. At the age of 115 years, 8 days, she remains the second-oldest person ever from the UK.

Biography

Jennings was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, and lived there all her life. She worked as a teacher and never had children.

Jennings became the oldest living person in the UK following the death of Lucy Jane Askew on 9 December 1997, a title she held for nearly two years until her death on 20 November 1999, aged 115 years, 8 days. Following her death, Eva Morris became the UK's oldest person.

Jennings reportedly disliked being in the Guinness World Records.
