Anita Murphy (born 6 February 1912) is an American centenarian who is one of the oldest known survivors of COVID-19, having recovered from the disease at the age of 108.

Early Life

Murphy was born on 6 February 1912 in Hamden, Connecticut, USA, where she has lived all her life. She was one of seven children. She and her husband married in 1934, and were active members of the Elks Club. While she was primarily a homemaker, Murphy also worked for a time in a bank and at a zipper manufacturing company.

Later Life and COVID-19 Survival

Murphy currently lives in a nursing home in Hamden, Connecticut, where she celebrated her 108th birthday in February 2020. As of August 2020, has one son, two grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

In late April 2020, Murphy contracted COVID-19 during the coronavirus pandemic. While ill, she reportedly hardly ate or drank anything, nor was she very talkative. However, she did not require ventilator treatment, and her illness was managed using oxygen and IVs. About a month after first testing positive for the virus, she had successfully recovered, making her one of the world's oldest known survivors of the disease.
