Anézia Maria da Conceicao claimed to have been born in the village of Apolonia, Satuba, Alagoas, Brazil, on 5 May 1902. She become a mourner at the age of 12, and started working working as a midwife at the age of 15. She had 5 children, including Maria Anunciada Silvestre. She was a Catholic and learned to pray as a child. As there was no doctor nearby, she used to help in childbirths in the region, and continued to do that until the age of 80.
At the age of 109, she was blind and unable to walk. In 2013, she was described in the book called "Nossa Terra, Nossa Gente", written by Pedro Soares dos Santos. In 2014, she said: “I could see what was wrong with people's bodies and souls, and God used me as an instrument to help them. Healing depended on one's faith...” She had 40 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
According to her great-grandson, Isac Silvestre Silva, she had breathing problems and low glucose during the last weekend of her life, and passed away in Santa Luzia do Norte, Alagoas, Brazil, at 02:07 AM on 29 October 2014.
