Amelia "Milly" England (née Bowden; 15 May 1900 – 30 November 2012) was a validated British-American supercentenarian.
Biography
Amelia Bowden was born on 15 May 1900 in Bolton, England, to Percival and Sarah (Sofield) Bowden. Her family emigrated to the United States when she was a child, and they settled in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was a Girl Scout, and at the time of her death, the oldest living former Girl Scout. While in Girl Scouts, she sorted draft cards during World War I.
Amelia firstly married Jack Wood, and secondly Frank England, but she never had any children. She got a job at the textile mill in New Bedford. In 1968, England moved to Lakeville, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Amelia England died in Lakeville, Masachusetts, USA, on 30 November 2012 at the age of 112 years, 199 days. At the time of her death, she was the 33rd-oldest person in the world, the 13th-oldest in the United States, and the second-oldest in Massachusetts, after Bernice Madigan.
