Alma Candida Bellotti (20 February 1907 – 27 May 2017) was an Italian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was one of the oldest nuns in the world when she died.

Biography

Alma Bellotti was born on 20 February 1907 in Quinzano, Veneto, Italy, as the third of ten children. Her father was a cobbler and her mother was a housewife. She liked to sew, and expressed her desire to become a nun when she was young.

On 16 July 1932, she took her religious vows and became a nun. Because she was a nun, she never married nor had children. Her religious name was Suor Candida. In the mid-1930s, Alma started working as a nurse, devoted to promoting the convent for young adults to join. She continued to do this until 2000, when she was 93, when she was transferred to a motherhouse in Lucca, Tuscany.

When Alma was 107, she met Pope Francis. She told him that the secret to her longevity was "Listen to the voice of Christ and be docile to his will. Throughout my life I have always thought: Where the Lord puts me, that is the right place for me."

Alma Bellotti passed away on 27 May 2017 in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy, at the age of 110 years, 96 days.
